Charles X Regulator Clock by Deltroit (#255)

  • Elaborate column capitals, applied friezes and rosettes.
     

  • Both a centrally mounted seconds and calendar hand.
     

  • Massive gridiron half-second beating pendulum, heavy bob, knife edge suspension
     

  • Micrometer timing adjustment- even a silvered gauge to measure pendulum amplitude.
     

  • Back of the case design, an indication this clock was made for a mirrored mantel.
     

  • Exquisite castings throughout.
     

  • Original gilt surfaces, a long running pinwheel escapement.
     

  • Engraved maker’s name on the dial and backplate: “Deltroit Eleve de Janvier”
     

  • Studied under the celebrated French master Antide Janvier (1751-1835).
     

  • Circa 1825,  the meticulous use of technical Horology, shows, however obsessively, the creation of an ultimate “Regulator” clock.
