Thomas Crow Clock (#280) 


  • An engraved, silvered brass dial, signed “Thomas Crow, Wilmington”.

  • Solid walnut Chippendale inspired case with distinctive Philadelphia styling: ogee feet, plain base and waist framed with angle joined sides, tombstone shaped door, round 3/4 applied bonnet columns, carved rosettes.

  • Thomas Crow was the son of George Crow, among the earliest of Wilmington, Delaware clock makers.

  • Thomas worked in Wilmington 1770 -1791, and later Philadelphia.

  • While in Wilmington, he also served in local government positions.

  • Examples of Crow’s skills are found in Winterthur, Philadelphia Museum (PMA), and Delaware’s Biggs Museum.

Roxbury Tall Case Clock (#281) 



  • The distinctive style of the New England Federal era, 1790-1820, made circa 1910-1930s.

  • Solid, choice mahogany case, cast solid brass castings.

  • Fine engraved polished brass, gold gilt, and silvered dial.

  • Hand painted moon dial and calendar.

  • Two weight 8 day running movement possibly by Waltham, of Boston Massachusetts 

  • Best quality throughout. Today's money can't buy the quality of these fine clocks.

  • Handsome.

New Hampshire Tall Case Clock by Luther Smith (#341)


  • New England ca 1820. Luther Smith (1767-1839) a clock maker working on Main Street in Keene, NH.

  • Built Keene's first public clock in 1794 ( cost 36 Pounds, and came with a ten year warranty!)

  • Solid cherry case, adorned with brass caps and original finials.

  • Unusual use of an original round pendulum "lenticle" in the door.

  • Exceptional early 19th Century New England American craftsmanship.

  • A hand painted iron dial, folksy, yet retaining traditional New England styling.

  • Except for upper backboard repair, in original condition.
